Welcome to Moonj Craft Company, where tradition meets innovation, and craftsmanship weaves the soul of heritage into modern living. We are passionate artisans dedicated to preserving and promoting India’s rich legacy of handmade crafts, blending age-old techniques with contemporary designs.
Moonj is a wild grass available in abundance near rivers in India. This grass is used traditionally by villagers for their huts since and to make rope called Baadh in Uttar Pradesh since centuries. It is used for handicraft products i.e. Baskets, Mats, Rope etc. from using Balla, Sirkis and setha, all parts of this grass. Due to natural golden fiber characteristics handicraft items prepared from Moonj are in high demand in the domestic as well as international market. However, artisans are leaving this art because of less price and market access. Utkarsh Jan Kalyan Sewa Samiti has been working with artisans of Sultanpur since last 10 years towards skill development and Design Development with and objective of creating Sustainable Livelihood for Artisans and Saving this Art.

Moonj(Baadh) also consider as a product in under one district one product (ODOP) scheme. However the cluster of artisans engaged in making of ropes from locally available grass known as Moonj is flourishing day by day. Moonj grass is found in abundance in some parts of UP. Objective
The SFURTI Scheme focuses on preserving traditional arts of India, which can be done only if the art is connected with the income of artisans. The objective of this project is mobilization, capacity building, innovative & creative design development for collective approach towards production of viable and profitable products for sale in domestic and international market to generate additional income through skilled labor and profit sharing of SPV.
Requirements
To establish the Moon Handcraft Cluster Mobilization, Orientation Awareness of 525 artisans is the first step for
which a Clutter Development Executive (CDE) is required Intervention for Capacity Building of Artisans, Institutional
Development for SPV. Design development and marketing support for collective production through a Common
Facility Center (CFC)upped with all tools, equipments & machineries is required. Marketing and Eshitition Support for branding and product sales. Development of a 6000 sq ft. Common Facility Center with Plant arid Machinery installed and a Raw Material Bank Functionalization of the cluster and handholding as well as advisory support for 3 years.
